Ancora centinaia di roghi attivi in Alberta, mai cosi tanti negli ultimi anni.
Il clima particolarmente caldo e asciutto che ha caratterizzato le ultime due settimane ha avuto un ruolo determinante nella propagazione degli incendi boschivi che si sono diffusi su migliaia di chilometri quadrati. La provincia più colpita è quella dell'Alberta con centinaia di roghi ancora attivi e alimentati dal vento. In pochi giorni le fiamme hanno distrutto quasi mezzo milione di ettari di bosco, pari a circa 5000km quadrati, un'area poco più grande della regione Molise completamente bruciata con migliaia di persone evacuate. Il fumo denso che si è sprigionato dagli incendi ha viaggiato per migliaia di chilometri raggiungendo anche gli Stati Uniti settentrionali e il Midwest dove le condizioni della qualità dell'aria sono sensibilmente peggiorate e sono stati emanati molti avvisi per la salute pubblica.
