A powerful tropical storm developed over the Gulf of Mexico bringing heavy rain, showers and hurricane wind gusts between last Wednesday and Thursday in Florida, creating flash flooding and many destructions. The weather was so intense as the storm was driven by a low pressure system, which was empowered by the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the cold air in the upper atmosphere, creating a severe unstable weather.

Rain more than 350mm in southern Florida: the storm dropped 356mm from Key Largo to Fort Lauderdale, between Wednesday and Thursday, while around 250mm near the area of Miami. Heavy rain also hit Cuba and the Bahamas. The continued heavy showers created flash flooding, mostly to the southern and southeastern areas of Florida, tearing down power lines, leaving on Thursday more than 59.000 power outages in Miami-Dade County, more than 24.000 outages in Broward, and 21.000 in Palm Beach County.
Hurricane wind gusts across the southeastern part of Florida: strong winds were dominating the coastal areas of Florida, bringing wind gusts up to 136 km/h, reaching the Hurricane Category 1 in the wind scale. The dangerous winds created many destructions in properties, while trees also fell.
