Arctic air masses from Scandinavia will move to the southwest bringing temperature drop over the next few days in Europe, after a long time. The last months the weather in central and western Europe was dry and the temperatures were unusually high. A powerful jet stream will help the cold air masses to reach even the northern parts of Algeria and Tunisia spreading cold spells for much of Europe from 31th of March until the first days of April.

Low pressure systems will dominate Europe the next few days bringing scattered showers, thunderstorms and snow. In more detail, on Thursday much of Europe will be affected by a big area of low pressure bringing scattered showers, rain or thunderstorms across Italy and the western Balkans, while wintry rain or snow will be spread across the UK, the Alps, the Low Countries, Denmark, Germany and France. On Friday and Saturday (1-2/04) many areas of central and eastern Europe will be covered by snow.

10-15°C Temperature drop: today the maximum temperature in France is 15-19°C, in Germany 11-16°C, in Hungary 18-22°C, in the Balkans 18-22°C. However, the month of April will start with a significant temperature drop with maximum temperatures close to freezing levels. On Friday and Sunday maximum temperatures will not overcome the 5C, while the minimum temperatures will be below 0C in much of central Europe with Helsinki reaching -8°C, Stockholm -7°C, Paris -2°C.
