Over the last 2 weeks a high pressure system across southwestern Europe is bringing unusually high temperatures breaking records for October the last days in Iberia and France. This consistent heat wave will continue to bring temperatures 10-12°C above normal over southeastern Europe and more specifically in Spain, Portugal, France, the Low Countries and the southern UK.

In more detail, over the next few days temperatures will locally reach 35-37°C across the south central areas of Spain and Portugal, while France on Sunday and Monday, locally, will have maximum temperatures over 30°C especially in the southern areas with Paris reaching 27-29°C. A temperature rise is also expected in the southern parts of the UK with many cities reaching 23-25°C and also London (on Tuesday). This unusual warmth will reach the Low Countries and the western areas of Germany the first days of next week with temperatures reaching 23-25°C.

On the other hand, an organized low pressure system over northeastern Europe along with a northwestern wind from Greenland is bringing an unusual cold to the other part of Europe with temperatures 5-10°C lower than average. From this weekend until the first days of next week maximum temperatures will be lower than 10°C, while minimum on Tuesday and Wednesday will be close to 0°C or lower bringing frosty conditions during the morning.
